A Cat's Behavior

There are many sides to cats. They are cute and cuddly. They also will run about everywhere in the house. This can become very annoying when you are trying to get some cleaning done around the house.

They will jump on furniture and dig into it with their claws. They will also jump from one piece of furniture to another knocking things over which may break when these things hit the floor. Cats are like any other pet, If they do not know that a behavior is not wanted by the owner, they will demonstrate this behavior.

Why do these felines do what they do?

If they have nothing else to do, They will find or figure out something to do.

They may be have just woken up from a nap and have a whole bunch of energy. If you take the time to play with your pet, it will bond with you while getting rid of all that boredom and excess energy. You will want to pay attention to your feline before it does something to get you angry. Don't play with it right after a bit of destruction has taken place. That will reinforce the behavior you are trying to stop.

Cats like the night time better than than day. They are more active at night. At least most are. To get rid of some of that energy during the day, play with the kitty before you go to work. It will sleep longer during the day and may behave since it got some attention already.

Cats will do some weird things and get into trouble during the time the females are in heat. They will try and get out of the house to hook up.

Indoor cats are notorious for driving their owners crazy during this sexually stressful time. One way to take care of this is to have your feline spayed or neutered. We all get a little angry at our pets from time to time when they are doing things we do not approve of.

These kitty's are a funny bunch. When you try and discipline them, often times they will think you are playing with them.

So, when your pet misbehaves, you have to punish instead of play. Your cat has to know the difference. Rewarding your feline for good behavior with treats is a good way to teach it what is expected. When it does something you do not approve of and it wants more treats, simply do not give it any.

Reward good behavior, not bad cat behavior. Cats have certain things in the house that they really like. You can tell because they will sleep on the same thing day after day. They will sit in a favorite piece of furniture. If you do not want them on these things, try some sort of spray that has an odor that the kitty will not like. However, you have to make sure that the cat doesn't dislike it so much that it starts spraying to put it's own scent back on the thing.

If your cat is acting up, it may just need some fresh air. Get them a outdoor cat enclosures or a nice outdoor cat cages. It will give them something to do.
